Summary
Sort Lab is a single-player puzzle game. It has no accounts and no chat, and your saved progress stays on your device. The iOS and Android apps show ads through Google AdMob (ads you choose to watch for hints or undos, and occasional ads between levels), and Google collects some data to provide them. With your permission the game sends anonymous gameplay statistics through Unity Analytics so we can improve the puzzles; you can turn this off at any time in Settings > Share stats. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google; we never see your payment details.
Data stored on your device
The game saves the following data locally, so you can continue where you left off:
- Progress: completed levels, best stars, collected bonuses, the last level played, free-hint usage and your daily-puzzle streak.
- Preferences: sound, music and vibration settings, core colour palette and filters, Infinite mode options and best score, and the tips you have already seen.
- Achievements: your progress towards each achievement and the cosmetic rewards you have chosen.
- Purchases: whether you bought Remove Ads, and the hints and undos you received from purchases or ads.
This saved data is not sent to us. Deleting the app (or clearing the site data in your browser) deletes it. We cannot recover it, because we never receive it. Remove Ads can be restored on a new device with Restore Purchases, because Apple and Google keep the record of your purchase.
Gameplay statistics (Unity Analytics)
To find levels that are too hard or confusing and to improve the game, the app can send anonymous gameplay statistics to Unity Analytics, a service of Unity Technologies:
- events such as starting and finishing a level, the result, moves, stars, hints and undos used and time spent, daily-puzzle results, ads watched and visits to the shop;
- a random identifier created by the game for this installation (not your advertising ID, name or email);
- device and app information, such as model, operating system, language and app version, and an approximate country derived from your IP address.
We use this data only in aggregate, to understand how the game is played. It is not used for advertising and not sold.
Your choices: you can turn statistics on or off at any time in Settings > Share stats. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland they are off until you turn them on. Turning them off stops collection and asks Unity to delete the statistics collected from your installation. See Unity's privacy policy.
Reminders
If you allow notifications, the app schedules local reminders on your device, for example when a new daily puzzle is ready. They are created on your phone and no data is sent to us to send them. You can turn them off in Settings > Reminders or in your device settings.
Purchases
In-app purchases (Remove Ads, Lab Supply) are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play under their terms. We receive no payment or card details; the store only confirms to the app that a purchase was made.
Ads in the iOS and Android apps
The apps show two kinds of ads: rewarded ads you choose to watch (for hints, undos or extra moves), and occasional full-screen ads between levels, which Remove Ads turns off. Ads are provided by Google AdMob. To serve ads, measure them and prevent fraud, Google may collect:
- device identifiers, such as the advertising ID (IDFA on iOS, Android Advertising ID);
- your IP address, which can indicate an approximate location;
- device and app information, such as model, operating system and language;
- interactions with ads.
Google processes this data under its own policies. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
Your choices
- In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, the app asks for consent through Google's consent form before personalised ads are used. You can change your choice at any time in Settings > Privacy.
- On iOS, the app asks permission before using the advertising identifier for tracking (App Tracking Transparency). If you decline, you can still watch ads, but they will be less personalised.
- You can reset or limit the advertising ID in your device settings.
Web version
The browser version has no ads, no purchases and no reminders, and it stores its saves in your browser's local storage. It sends the same anonymous gameplay statistics through Unity Analytics only if you turn on Settings > Share stats. The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes standard connection data (such as IP addresses) to deliver and protect the site. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Children
Sort Lab is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
We do not hold an account or personal profile for you. Your saves stay on your device; you can delete them by deleting the app. You can stop gameplay statistics and ask Unity to delete them with Settings > Share stats, and change your ad choices in Settings > Privacy and your device settings. For any other request, or a question about this policy, write to support@singlethreadgames.com.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, mention them in the app's release notes.
